I am an artist and art educator currently living in Louisville, Kentucky. In 2004 I moved to Louisville from the Boston area where I lived since 1995. Previous to that, I lived and worked in New York City and New Haven, Connecticut.

I am from San Miguel de Allende, Mexico, where I grew up in a family of artists and designers. Through high school and college I returned to San Miguel on summer and winter breaks, studying art and music at the Instituto Nacional de Bellas Artes, and working for the family business. After graduating from Arizona State University with a BFA, I lived in Mexico City and joined the design team at DRAFFT, a small design studio. In 1986, I attended the Yale Summer Program in Graphic Design, in Brissago, Switzerland, and In 1989 I graduated from Yale University with a MFA in graphic design.

My work experience includes teaching at the University of Massachusetts Dartmouth and Parsons The New School for Design in New York City. In 2015 and 2016 I was invited to conduct, with Tom Ruggio, a one-week drawing and plein air landscape painting workshop in Tuscany, Italy.
