In my work I explore the confluence of nature and the human presence, memory and perception. I draw and paint places that highlight the roles humankind and the natural physical environment play on each other, while avoiding the sentimental or specific. I am interested in imparting the mystery and ambiguity of the human presence or impact on a place.
Having lived in Mexico and various parts of the United States, I am intrigued by the power of memory on the senses. I enjoy painting scenes that are far from where I work, relying on memory to present the essence of a particular place.
